Well we are just getting out of our first winter with baby and, oh my, what a winter it was! The snow wasn't that bad, the winds weren't too strong and, all in all, it really wasn't overly cold like it typically is. Normally this would have made me a very happy girl but this winter was different - very different! Now that we have a baby it seems that, as expected, everything has changed and it's almost as though they are magnets for germs. I must admit my daughter has gotten off pretty easy in comparison to some of the horrible stories I have heard from my friends. Babes under a year old have been in and out of the hospital with bronchitis, pneumonia and various other cold-related viruses. I feel so bad for those moms and dads when I complain because my daughter has a cold but I never knew how much work all of this could really be.
McKenzie had her first cold a couple months ago and it lasted for about a week. During this time we tried everything we could think of and things that other people told us to try. Humidifiers were going full force. Fluids were flowing left and right. I had enough of the typical nasal aspirator so I went and spent big money on one that is battery operated and plays music. Remember Moms - this is a device to suck the yuckies out of your little one's nose so not sure where the music has come in. I imagine it is to be a distraction but it actually added to the already difficult and traumatic process of literally vacuuming your child's nose. I asked myself one question - how does this actually feel? She was crying so much that I had to find out. So I did and I am almost certain I cried myself.
All Moms know - first the gunk in the nose is runny, then it's dry. Either way it's either coming out too much or not at all and there's no way to stop it and nothing you can really do, especially when you have an infant.
I really wish while I was going through all of this for the very first time that someone would have told me about hydraSense® and their new Nasal Aspirator that comes with filters. This product is awesome and was actually developed by pediatricians and provides quick and effective relief from your baby's nasal congestion and helps to soothe them so the crying subsides and the sleep becomes that peaceful slumber that makes a Mommy want to cry with joy!
I was never even aware that a child can develop as many as eight colds a year and knowing that my little one is still unable to blow her nose, it just breaks my heart. I also didn't know that because a child under 2 is unable to blow his or her nose, bacteria can accumulate in nasal secretions and lead to ear, nose and throat infections and other respiratory problems. hydraSense® is the leading brand in saline solutions for the entire family and the hydraSense® Nasal Aspirator has a soft nasal tip that is specifically designed for babies’ delicate noses and its transparent design allows for you to see the amount and type of mucus that is being removed. The hydraSense® Nasal Aspirator even has a protective single-use filter that traps excess mucus, providing hygienic aspiration. The tip and base of the aspirator are easily removable for effective cleaning after each use. Unlike squeezable nasal aspirators, the hydraSense® Nasal Aspirator allows you to control the strength of the suction with your aspiration.
For best results, and to liquefy mucus prior to aspiration, use hydraSense® Easydose® or hydraSense®Ultra-Gentle Mist with Comfort Tip, a nasal solution composed of isotonic, undiluted, sterile, 100% natural-source desalinated seawater. hydraSense® contains more than 70 trace elements and minerals naturally occurring in seawater and is preservative free.
Whether your little one is suffering from a cold, flu or allergies, the nasal congestion associated with it is sure to be taken care of with the hydraSense® Nasal Aspirator! You can view a short video of the
hydraSense® Nasal Aspirator and see for yourself just how easy it really is to use and just how much it puts the others to shame!
